I am offering my expertise in creative writing to assist you in your journey. As a widely published award-winning poet, poetry editor, literature instructor, and a master's graduate in Creative Writing, I will support you in identifying the strengths and weaknesses in your writing and will advise you in leveling up your poetic career. I'm delighted to work with writers at any stage of development. Whether you're only getting started, or already in the heat and beauty of it all, I'd be happy to support you in whatever needed way. What a one-hour session can include are the following: ⊛ Extensive and careful insight into pursuing poetry as a career. ⊛ If we are working with individual poems, we will discuss the trajectory of the work, the relationship between the work’s form and subject matter(s), and the arc/threads of "meaning" (if any) that the poet is aiming at delivering. ⊛ In the case of individual poems, I will evaluate the line-to-line synergy, offer line editing, and suggest ways for potential honing and possible alternatives. My suggestions will be in the area of word choice, form, diction, symbolism, imagery, allegoric choices, rhythmics, sonics, punctuation, etc. ⊛ Since every consultation session is an hour long, I'd recommend having not more than 2 poems, 2 pages each so we have time to truly deep-dive into each one. If you tend to write micropoetry, feel free to bring in up to 4 pages of your work. ⊛ I will provide you with recommendations for next steps, as fitting. ⊛ All poems should be formatted in an easily readable (Garamond is my fav!), 12-point font. The fees and parameters for this service are as follows: - Chapbooks, up to 40 pages in length, $150 - Full-length manuscripts, up to 80 pages in length, $300 — Perla 🍒
